GPP at a crossroads in Slovenia

Umanotera, The Slovenian Foundation for Sustainable Development, organised the first GPP 2020 Slovenian national networking event on 21st January 2015 in Ljubljana. The main aim of the networking event was to verify what the status of the GPP in Slovenia is and what improvements could be achieved. The event was organised as a World Café, a facilitation method in which every participant is encouraged to get involved by sharing their own experiences, ideas and suggestions. Some 23 participants attended the event, which was held under the title of ‘GPP at the Crossroads’.

The session was led by a professional facilitator, with discussions and activities focussed around a single question: which priority actions on the subject of GPP could we recommend to the Government? The opportunity to move between tables, meet new people and ideas, and actively contribute own thinking, has proven to be very fruitful. Participants Came to new points of view through deep dialogue and discussion. The harvest at the end of the meeting in a large group conversation resulted in the consensus of opinion. The closure of this consultation exposed the weak implementation of GPP regulation in Slovenia and drew clear recommendations for arranging GPP policy in the future.

After the national event the detailed report was sent to the Government and to fifteen Ministers. It is available for download in Slovenian.
